Day 1. Transfer to Murchison falls national park – rhino tracking
Upon arrival at the airport, you will be met by the company driver guide who will transfer you to Murchison falls national park. You will have a stopover at the rhino sanctuary where you will have lunch and track the rhinos.
Rhino tracking will take about 1.30 hours and then proceed to Murchison falls national park. Check in at Paraa safari lodge where you will have dinner and spend the night.
Day 2. Game drive, boat cruise
After an early breakfast at the lodge, you will do a morning game drive which starts at around 6am. There are various trails around the park to follow as you look for the animals. The game drive takes between 3-4 hours. You will expect to see animals like; lions, elephant, leopard, waterbucks, warthog, hyena, buffalo, giraffes, Jackson’s hartebeests, bushbuck, among others as well as some savannah bird species. Return to the lodge and refresh and have lunch.
At 2pm, you will do a boat cruise on the Victoria Nile which take 3 hours up to the bottom of Murchison falls. You will expect to spot some animals on the shores like; hippos, buffalo, elephant, crocodile, monitor lizard among others. You will as well expect to spot various water bird species like; the African fish eagle, kingfishers, cormorants, herons, pelican, African jacana among many more.
Dinner and overnight at the lodge.
Day 3. Transfer to Kibale
After breakfast at the lodge, you will check out of the lodge and transfer to Kibale forest national park. The drive will take around 5-7 hours with a stopover for lunch in Kagadi. Check in at Isunga lodge where you will have dinner and spend the night.
Day 4. Chimp trekking
After breakfast at the lodge you will drive to the park headquarters where you will be briefed about the activity by the park ranger guide. You will be put into groups of 6 and then be assigned guides who will guide you through the activity. The activity will take between 4-6 hours depending on where the chimps will be that day. As you trek the chimps, you will expect to see various forest bird species that live in the forest.
Before spotting the chimps, you will hear their sounds as at distance and then keep following the sounds. You will expect to spot the chimps jumping from one tree branch to another as they go about their daily life and looking for food. You are allowed to take photos of the chimps but make sure that your flash light is off.
Return to the lodge
Day 5. Transfer to Queen Elizabeth national park, evening game drive
After breakfast at the lodge, you will check out and transfer to Queen Elizabeth national park. Check in at bush lodge and have lunch. In the late afternoon, you will do a game drive around the park where you will expect to spot some of the animals that live in the park like elephant, buffalo, kobs, waterbucks, among others. Dinner and overnight at the lodge.
Day 6. Game drive, boat cruise
Early morning will go for a game drive, after breakfast at the lodge to see more animals that habit this park, that include predators lion. Leopard and other game. Over 500 bird species have been identified here, making it a paradise for bird-watchers. They include the black bee-eater, 11 different species of kingfisher and several falcons, eagles and other raptors.
After lunch take a 2-hour launch cruise on the Kazinga channel. This waterway joins Lakes Edward and George and it is filled with schools of hippos, buffaloes with elephants at the banks. You are likely to meet grazing hippos, elephants, lions, spotted hyenas and leopards, bushbuck, waterbuck and stripped jackal and several warthogs. You will also expect to spot birds like; the African fish eagle, kingfishers, cormorants, herons, pelican, African jacana. After the launch cruise will take short evening game drive. Dinner and overnight at the lodge.
Day 7. Transfer to Bwindi
After breakfast at the lodge, you will check out of the lodge and then transfer to Bwindi impenetrable national park. This journey takes between 5-7 hours with a stopover for lunch along the way. Check in at Rushaga Gorilla Camp for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 8. Gorilla trekking
Morning after breakfast with packed lunch, you will be escorted to the starting point for briefing by your guide. You will be allocated guides to track gorillas with, and then will be off to begin your adventure. A briefing from your local guides and then it’s off! The time taken and the terrain vary (1- 8 hours) this depends on the movement of these gentle giants. The thrill of meeting face to face takes away the pain of some times long and arduous trek. Each encounter is different and has its own rewards, but you are likely to enjoy the close view of adults feeding, grooming and resting as the youngsters frolic and swing from vines in delightfully playful manner. You will be given an hour to see the gorillas.
Return to the lodge, refresh and have lunch. Dinner and overnight
Day 10. Transfer back to Kampala
After breakfast at the lodge, you will check out and transfer back to Kampala.
