Mgahinga National park is located within the Virunga massif which is having the same vegetation cover like that of Virunga National Park Congo & Volcanoes national park Rwanda the second top destinations for a gorilla trekking experience.
Unlike Bwindi, the vegetation in Mgahinga is not so thick as its not a rain forest but a mountainous vegetation cover type and you will then start gorilla trek through the tropical forests. The Gorilla search in the park takes between 3-5 hours depending on where the gorillas spent their previous night. Gorilla watching will last for one hour unlike the gorilla habituation which lasts for 4 hours and this allows you to see them play, learn about their daily life, and also take photos of Mountain gorillas.
During the gorilla trekking experience in the Mgahinga national park, you may spot some other primates that live in the forest like vervet monkeys, baboons and if lucky some golden monkeys. You will as well expect to spot various bird species that live within the Mgahinga park. Return to the lodge, refresh. Dinner and overnight at the Gahinga Lodge.
Day 3. Golden monkey Tracking

Volcanoes National Park Rwanda
Due to the fact that among the top primates found in Mgahinga national park include golden monkey. it would be bad to leave the destination without spotting the golden monkeys which are found in Volcanoes

Golden monkeys are an endangered species of monkeys that are mostly found in the Virunga region and live in the bamboo zone of the mountains. The activity takes between 3-5 hours. You will expect to spot the monkeys jumping from one bamboo plant to another as they go about their daily life. You will keep following the monkey (some good fitness level would be required). Return to the hotel, refresh, and have lunch. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.
Day 4: Sabinyo hike

Chimpanzee trekking can be done in the morning; which starts at 8 am, mid-morning; starts at 11 am, and in the afternoon; starts at 2 pm. However, clients that will have booked chimpanzee habituation will have to take note that it starts in the morning and its a full day safari activity.
